March 10th is celebrated worldwide by fans as Mario Day. It became such a popular date that even Nintendo themselves has joined in! Why the 10th of March? Because if you write it as Mar10, it looks like the name Mario!
There are endless ways to celebrate Mario Day. Costumes, parties, games, toys… Anything you can think of, there’s a Mario version out there just waiting to be discovered. For this blog, we’ve picked out some of our favourite Mario-themed goodies suitable for your celebrations. Lets-a-go!
Take the Wheel with Mario Kart Live
Mario Kart Live comes with a working kart based on one of the many characters from the game. Using the familiar controls from the game, you can drive your character around a real-life racecourse. The Switch adds in all of the magical effects, and your home becomes a sandy desert or great ocean depths! You’ll have to beat all of the usual obstacles too, like other racers, and use special items to change the way your kart moves.
Let’s-a-LEGO
This LEGO series is an expansive collection of Lego sets featuring many familiar characters and settings from the Mario universe. Our personal favourite is the Desert Expansion Set. Featuring classic enemies Monty Mole and Pokey, along with a hammer turntable to defeat them with, you’ll have endless amounts of fun emulating the tricky desert levels from the games!
Solve a Puzzle with Peach
This 1000 piece puzzle by top puzzle brand Ravensburger would make a great Mario Day artwork to display. Many Marios run around the scene, interacting with you, each other, and the occasional Luigi, Peach, or Yoshi cameo. It’s the perfect puzzle for any fan!
Make a Splash on Yoshi’s Island with Aquabeads
For creative fans, this Aquabeads set is the way to go. Create Mario, Luigi, Peach, and Toad – then display them, scrapbook them, gift them to friends – whatever you like! This is a great, versatile option and you can use the design sheets over and over. The set contains everything you need including a layout table, bead palette, sprayer, bead pen, template sheet, and 17 packs of beads.
Forget Rainbow Road, Try Chess
Fans of chess rejoice, there’s finally a way to get your little Mario-enthusiasts learning the game – and to celebrate this special day while doing so! This Chess set comes in a lovely collectors tin that you can use to store the game and take it out with you. All of the pieces are figures of classic characters and props from the franchise, with labels on the stands to help you remember which classic chess piece they act as.
