Passing “Go” earns players $200, while landing on “Free Parking” earns them any fines collected by the bank. If a player lands on “Jail”, they must either pay a fine or roll doubles to get out. And if they land on “Go to Jail”, they are immediately sent to jail.

Monopoly is won when all other players have gone bankrupt, leaving the winner as the sole survivor. But getting to that point can take a long time, as the game can go on for hours, with players trying to outmaneuver each other, negotiate deals and collect rent.

Monopoly has been popular for decades, and has spawned countless spinoffs and special editions featuring different themes, such as popular movies, TV shows, and even cities. The game has also been adapted into video games, mobile apps, and online versions, making it more accessible to a wider audience.

Despite its popularity, Monopoly has been criticized for promoting a cutthroat capitalist mentality, where players ruthlessly compete to accumulate wealth at the expense of others.
