My Favourite Toy growing up!

In this special blog we will be looking back to my favourite toy when I was growing up. Now, this was a tough choice. Growing up I played with a range of different toys, all which I adored. However, I managed to narrow it down to just one. The decider came down to the fact I spent hours and hours playing with this one specific toy.
The Jumbo Roadway Rug!
It was quite simply a mat which lay in the middle of my floor. However, this toy gave me endless fun and was the home to hundreds of imaginative adventures. It was very exciting when I discovered that this is still a very popular toy today, with thousands of children still enjoying making up lots of different scenarios and adventures all over the town.
Christmas Day was the day I first played with the roadway rug! I was six-years-old and remember instantly unrolling it and laying it in the middle of our living room. I was ecstatic to have my own town, which I could then create and decide what happen. Being able to decide where the ‘stop’ signs would be, and which cars would have to stop at which traffic lights was extraordinary! A very exciting scenario for a six-year-old, I’m sure you’ll agree!
After I got a few toy cars I started racing and queuing them up all around the town. There were many exciting locations they could visit. These include: the supermarket, a farm, the hospital, fire station, the school and many more. I then started collecting up a range of different toy vehicles to represent the types of cars you see on a road, driving through a normal town.
The Roadway Rugs of Today!
When looking through the popular roadway rugs, I became very excited when I realised that they have added many variations to the town! It is no longer just the standard town, you can get lots of different maps! These include; train rug, safari rug and race track rug.
Once you’ve chosen your favourite rug, all you need to get you started is the London Car Set. The high-quality set includes seven wooden vehicles, all London classics! The set includes: a red London bus, a black cab, a fire engine, a police car, two ambulance cars and a racing car!
There are plenty of other additional vehicles that are perfect to add to the town map! Such as the range of 1:18 scale Vespa scooters! The models themselves are incredibly detailed, with authentic engine, seat and chassis design! Depending on the town map you get, you may also be able to find a reason to drive your favourite construction vehicles around, you never know when a road may need repairing!
