There are 5 roles which hold sway over actions: Duke - Take 3 coins from the treasury, block foreign aid Assassin - Pay 3 coins to assassinate another player's character Contessa - Block an assassination attempt against yourself Captain - Take 2 coins from another, block someone stealing from you Ambassador - Draw 2 cards and exchange as many characters as you wish There are also a few free actions, which any player may do on their turn: Income - Take a coin Foreign aid - Take 2 coins Coup - Spend 7 coins to launch a coup against someone, forcing them to discard a player Up to 4 opposing players claim to be 1 of a set role, using their powers to manipulate the political standpoint of their oponents, and attempt to acrew enough credits to inspire a coup against one another.
