Dunkleosteus means “Dunkles Bone” and is named after paleontologist David Dunkle. It was a big predatory pre-historic fish that lived during the Late Devonian period (around 380-360 million years ago).
Dunkleosteus were 30ft long and weighed 3-4 tons. They had a hard armor plating, a bulging head, and big, toothless jaws.
