You will need all your brain cells firing as you frantically try to think of a word containing the letters on the card and pass the infernal ticking Bomb on to the next player. As you hold the Bomb, there may be only seconds to come up with an answer and beat the variable timer!

1. What does the game involve?

Pass the Bomb is a simple concept that involves throwing a ticking bomb around a circle of players – the aim being not to have it blow up in your hands! Primarily, it’s a word game: each player draws a card from the top of the deck and has to use theletters, in their order on the card, in a word – something that requires quick thinking! To make it more challenging, players can opt to use thedice provided. On each player’s turn they roll the dice to determine whether the letters on the card should appear at the front, the end or in themiddle of the word. Naturally, this is not a game for the faint of heart!

2. What skills can you build/gain from the game?

The fact that Pass the Bomb is a word game confers obvious benefits to players’ vocabulary but, mainly, the game teaches you to think on your feet and respond quickly to challenges.

3. What’s your favourite tactic or are there any tricks you can teach us?

I find that the best approach it is to picture the words, visualising theletters in their particular order. That way, you can quickly determine whether the letters on your card will match up with the word you’ve thought of. When in doubt, however, look at the environment around you – there might be some inspiration!
